The National Cotton Council (NCC) is preparing to learn about 50 products that Brazil has targeted in retailiation after winning a judgement award from the World Trade Organization (WTO) today. The case goes back to 2002, when Brazil first said that the U.S. cotton program harmed them and other countries. The WTO agreed and awarded the South American nation $147 million from the U.S. cotton program (Step 2 payments) and another $147 million for the U.S. Export Credit Guarantee program (GSM): Brazil had asked for $350 million and $1.294 billion respectively.
