WASHINGTON, DC – USDA says U.S. floriculture sales climbed sharply in 2025, giving greenhouse, nursery, and garden-plant producers a stronger annual benchmark after several uneven years.

The National Agricultural Statistics Service says total floriculture crop sales reached $8.41 billion, up 25 percent from 2024. Sales across the 28 individually published states totaled $7.83 billion, up 24 percent.

The number of floriculture producers increased to 11,728 nationwide, compared with 11,262 one year earlier. Covered production area also expanded to 1.04 billion square feet, up from 969 million square feet in 2024.

Annual bedding and garden plants remained the largest sales category at $3.119 billion. Herbaceous perennials, potted flowering plants, foliage plants, propagation materials, cut flowers, and cultivated greens followed.

Florida led all states with $1.408 billion in sales, followed by California and Michigan. Michigan reported the most floriculture operations.

Farm-Level Takeaway: Floriculture producers saw stronger sales in 2025, but expansion decisions still depend on labor, greenhouse space, and local retail demand.
