Beef Checkoff Approves $39.5 Million 2027 Promotion Plan

DENVER, CO – The Beef Promotion Operating Committee approved about $39.5 million in fiscal 2027 Beef Checkoff programs aimed at promotion, research, consumer information, foreign marketing, and producer communications, subject to USDA approval.

The committee considered 13 funding requests totaling about $49.6 million, roughly $10.1 million more than available. Eight national organizations ultimately received funding, with the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association allocated $26.05 million and the U.S. Meat Export Federation $8.1 million.

Program spending includes $9.27 million for promotion, $9.6 million for research, $7.85 million for consumer information, and $8.1 million for foreign marketing covering more than 90 countries.

Additional funds support industry information, producer communications, program evaluation, USDA oversight, and administration. The full fiscal 2027 Cattlemen’s Beef Board budget totals about $43.9 million, up $1.5 million from fiscal 2026.

The Beef Checkoff collects $1 per head on cattle sales, and states may retain up to half for state-level programs.
