Ag News Update – Monday 10/19/2026
USDA’s latest futures-based model shows corn, soybeans and wheat prices remaining above 2026 Price Loss Coverage trigger levels as producers approach the December 11 ARC and PLC election deadline. USDA is also developing a 2027 trade mechanism that would link apparel tariff benefits to verified purchases of U.S. cotton. Expanding domestic soybean crush capacity is shifting more demand toward U.S. processing and renewable-fuel markets. Harvest grain is moving through a transportation system where diesel remains more than $2.50 per gallon above a year ago and rail shuttle premiums are rising. Texas High Plains cotton growers are also watching rain and severe weather with much of the crop still open. In Brazil, major rail projects could eventually cut grain transportation costs and strengthen competition against U.S. corn and soybean exports.
