Ethanol Exports Remain Strong Despite September Monthly Decline

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. ethanol exports eased slightly in September but remained historically strong, while year-to-date shipments continued running well ahead of last year’s pace.

Renewable Fuels Association data show September ethanol exports totaled 209 million gallons, down 1 percent from August. Canada remained the largest buyer, taking a record 93.5 million gallons, or 45 percent of total U.S. exports. Vietnam and India also posted strong monthly gains.

Through September, U.S. ethanol exports reached 1.83 billion gallons, 14 percent above the same period in 2025. No ethanol imports were recorded during September.

Exports of dried distillers grains fell 16 percent from August to 1.09 million metric tons. Mexico remained the largest customer, while shipments increased sharply to the European Union, Colombia and the United Kingdom.

Year-to-date DDGS exports totaled 9.66 million metric tons, 12 percent above last year, extending strong overseas demand for ethanol coproducts.

Farm-Level Takeaway: Strong ethanol and DDGS exports continue providing important demand support for corn and ethanol producers.
