Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack announced Wednesday that USDA will open enrollment in the Conservation Reserve Program with higher payment rates, new incentives, and a more targeted focus on the program’s role in climate change mitigation.
The cornerstone of government conservation initiatives is the Conservation Reserve Program from USDA.
Next year, USDA will begin the process of enrolling new and existing acres of conservation lands into the largest federally administered private land retirement program.
