As beef exports continue to approach all-time records in both volume and value this year, it reveals a two decade-long trend whereby U.S. animal protein exports, together, have tripled in value to nearly $21 billion per year.
An agreement signed 66 months ago by twelve countries, including the United States, might have originally been about trade but more than likely was far more valuable as a geopolitical move to give the U.S. a leg up on China in the Asian-Pacific region.
As the United States begins the process of wrapping up a Congressional session and administration, 15 countries in Southeast Asia have joined with five regional partners in signing the largest free trade agreement in history.
