NASHVILLE, TN – Farmers and ranchers are testing artificial intelligence, or AI, but many still want proof before relying on it for major decisions. A new MorganMyers report says AI use is broad across agriculture, while trust remains uneven.
The 2026 survey found 75 percent of farmers and ranchers have used tools such as ChatGPT or Gemini to support their operations. Nearly half of those users rely on the tools weekly or more.
Use is strongest among dairy producers, younger farmers, and larger operations. Adoption is lower among smaller operations, older farmers, and row-crop producers.
The report says most farm and ranch AI use is practical and business-focused. General-purpose AI tools are being used more than agriculture-specific platforms, suggesting workflow fit and awareness remain barriers.
MorganMyers says farmers, ranchers, and retailers need proof, transparency, and human validation before AI recommendations gain wider trust.
Farm-Level Takeaway: Producers may benefit from AI tools, but major decisions still need local knowledge, clear data, and human review.
