Today’s guest is Laphe LaRoe, chairman of the Texas Cattle Feeders Association and director of operations with Smith Cattle Company.
LaRoe joins Tony St. James after visiting the Santa Teresa border crossing as cattle again moved from Mexico into the United States. He describes the added inspections on both sides of the border, animal identification procedures and USDA checks designed to reduce New World screwworm risk. He also discusses drought pressure on grazing, the importance of Mexican feeder cattle, labor concerns at packing plants, and the outlook for the cattle-feeding industry.
