Export Sales for Cotton Dip on Higher Prices

WASHINGTON, DC – Export sales for most commodities were higher for the week ending October 28, 2021, with the exception of cotton sales – which may be declining on the highest prices in 10 years. Actual exports, however, were more of a mixed bag with corn, sorghum, soybeans, cotton and pork were all higher.

Specifically, here are highlights from USDA’s Foreign Agriculture Service (FAS).

Wheat: Net sales of 400,000 metric tons were up 49 percent from the previous week primarily for Mexico, South Korea, and Taiwan.
Exports of 136,000 metric tons were down 27 percent from the previous week primarily to Mexico, Panama, and Honduras.

Corn: Net sales of 1.2 million metric tons were up 37 percent from the previous week primarily for Mexico, Japan, and Guatemala.
Exports of 748,000 metric tons were up 9 percent from the previous week to Mexico, Japan, and Colombia.

Sorghum: Net sales of 266,000 metric tons were the result of increases for China and Japan, but offset by reductions for unknown destinations.
Exports of 4,000 metric tons were up 77 percent from the previous week, but down 90 percent from the prior 4-week average primarily to China.

Soybeans: Net sales of 1.9 million metric tons were up 58 percent from the previous week for China, Mexico, and the Netherlands.
Exports of 2.7 million metric tons were up 10 percent from the previous week primarily to China, Mexico, and the Netherlands.

Cotton: Net sales of 139,000 running bales were down 61 percent from the previous week primarily for China, India, and Turkey.
Exports of 142,000 bales were up noticeably from the previous week and up 42 percent from the prior 4-week average to China, Mexico, and Pakistan

Beef: Net sales of 17,000 metric tons were down 13 percent from the previous week primarily for South Korea, China, and Japan.
Exports of 17,000 metric tons were unchanged from the previous week to South Korea, Japan, and China.

Pork: Net sales of 46,000 metric tons up 55 percent from the previous week for Mexico, China, and Japan.
Exports of 34,000 metric tons were up 3 percent from the previous week primarily to Mexico, China, and Japan.
