NASHVILLE, TN – Farmers and ranchers can now seek a local voice in how federal farm programs are delivered. USDA’s Farm Service Agency is accepting nominations for 2026 county committee elections through Aug. 3.
County committees help guide local administration of disaster recovery, conservation, commodity, and price support programs. They also make decisions tied to county office employment and other local agricultural issues.
Producers may be nominated if they participate or cooperate in a USDA program and live in a Local Administrative Area up for election this year. Cooperating producers include those who have provided farm or ranch information to FSA, even if they have not received program benefits.
Individuals may nominate themselves or others. Qualifying organizations may also submit candidates.
More than 7,700 producers serve on FSA county committees nationwide. Members serve three-year terms, and ballots will be mailed to eligible voters in November.
Farm-Level Takeaway: Producers should check local FSA election areas now if they want a voice in county-level program decisions.
