Livestock Producers Eyeing Additional Assistance Through New Program

AMARILLO, TX – Livestock producers may be eligible for new or additional payments under USDA’s latest program, the Pandemic Assistance for Producers (or PAP). According to Texas Cattle Feeders Association (TCFA), “top-up” payments are available to cattle producers who have had CFAP-1 applications approved but have not reached their individual payment limit of $250,000. The payments are based on the producer’s cattle inventory between April 16, 2020, and May 14, 2020, and those eligible for additional payments do not need to submit a new application. Payments will be $7 per head for feeder cattle under 600 pounds, while feeders over 600 pounds will draw $25.50 per head. Slaughter cattle will be paid $63 per head for fed cattle while mature cattle are paid $14.75 per head. All other cattle will receive $17.25 per head according to USDA.
