WASHINGTON, DC – USDA has reissued its October Crop Production report after correcting a processing error in September corn data, while leaving the current October corn forecast unchanged.

The National Agricultural Statistics Service says the corrections affect September corn yield forecasts for Kansas, Nebraska and the United States. September plant population and ear-count data were also updated for Kansas, Nebraska and the 10-state region.

USDA says the October forecast remains at 16.034 billion bushels with a national average yield of 181.2 bushels per acre. Kansas is forecast at 125 bushels per acre and Nebraska at 188 bushels.

The agency says all tables, charts and narrative sections affected by the September corrections were updated. The revised estimates were also published in USDA’s Quick Stats database on October 23.

For producers and markets, the key point is that the correction changes the historical September data but does not alter USDA’s current October corn production or yield outlook.

Farm-Level Takeaway: USDA corrected September corn data, but the current October production and yield forecasts remain unchanged.
